‘Maintenance in Cuncolim Market Complex is a disaster’: Khabir Moraes actvist

“These photographs were taken on 5th June 2021. Every year the issue of maintaining the market was raised. it is very frustrating to see the public funds, being wasted/not utilized efficiently. Lack of funds was the most common answer to my question, by the previous council,” says Khabir Moraes in his facebook post.

The new council headed by Chairperson Laxman Naik of Congress took charge in the first week of April this year.

People of hoping for change but the ”Smart Cuncolim” is taking a lot of time to take shape. It is close to four months since the new council took over, that is close to 120 days!!!!!!

The elements are not adding up to bring about a solid change. Who are the elements who are holding the Congress-led council making sweeping changes in terms of maintenance and administration of the market is billion dollar question.

Cuncolim Congress should expose such elements which have destroyed the fair and clean name of Cuncolim and holding them and giving Cuncolkar a clean and well maintained Cuncolim Market Complex.

This is what Cuncolim Block president Assis Noronha have to say about on the Cuncolim Market Complex’s disastrous maintenance.

Do not except miracles overnight: Assis

“It's a very good thing about you Khabir raising such important issues. I appreciate, I respect your concern and views but some elements are just waiting to pounce and instigate people on whatever you or anyone posts such posts just to defame the present council.

“Infact, the MLA is there for the past 2 years in the ruling BJP which he joined to do development. So far what development has happened I don't know. But what I feel about people is that they don't question the MLA. The council has taken over the reins in April'21. After 7 days in the chair, the Chairperson was tested positive for Covid-19 and was in Victor Hospital for a month.

“But we have noted every possible work that has been totally neglected by the MLA and the past council.

“One cannot expect magic overnight. We will see that we do everything that was promised in our municipal elections manifesto.”
